Women Who Care, Share Luncheon Will Bring Women Together For Inspiration, Connection And Support Of Vital YWCA Programs On September 17

SHREVEPORT, La. — The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana will host its annual Women Who Care, Share Luncheon on Thursday, September 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino in Shreveport. The luncheon will bring together women and community leaders from across Northwest Louisiana for an afternoon centered on empowerment, inspiration, connection, and community impact.  Attendees will also be able to purchase silent auction items at the event.

The Women Who Care, Share Luncheon celebrates the power of women supporting women while raising awareness and critical support for the YWCA’s programs and services throughout the community.

This year’s event will feature an inspiring lineup of women who exemplify leadership, service, and commitment to Northwest Louisiana, including Judy Madison, longtime banking and community development leader, accomplished entrepreneur Nell Shehee, who will share an inspirational message.  Also Emmy Award-winning journalist Jacque Jovic, a familiar face in the Shreveport-Bossier community and a longtime advocate for community service and nonprofit organizations will be joining as a speaker.

“We are excited to bring women from across our community together for this year’s Women Who Care, Share Luncheon,” said Rashida Dawson, Executive Director of YWCA NWLA.“ This event is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible women who are making a difference while also shining a light on the important work being done by the YWCA every day. When women come together to care, share, and support one another, the impact reaches far beyond the room.”

Take a look at this recent KTAL NBC 6 interview with Board President Valerie Thomas- White to learn more about this year's luncheon.

Supporting Women, Families and the Community

Proceeds from the luncheon will support the YWCA of Northwest Louisiana’s programs and initiatives, including free counseling services, the L.E.A.D. Teen Girls Program, Senior Advocacy, Social Justice initiatives, and Fab Finds, the YWCA’s resale boutique that helps generate funding to support its mission.

Through its free counseling services, the YWCA provides individuals and families with access to support and resources. Its L.E.A.D. program focuses on empowering and developing the next generation of female leaders, while Senior Advocacy works to connect and support older adults. The organization’s social justice efforts promote equity, advocacy, and community engagement.

“Our work is made possible because people in this community care,” said Rashida Dawson. “Every ticket, sponsorship, and donation helps us continue creating opportunities, providing resources, and changing lives.”
