Gowns, Tuxedos & Blinged-Out Sneakers: YWCA NWLA’s Seasoned Connection Brings Senior Advocacy to Life at 2026 Sneaker Ball
SHREVEPORT, LA — The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana is putting a stylish spin on senior advocacy as its Seasoned Connection Program presents the 2026 Sneaker Ball, a celebration of community, connection, and aging with confidence.
Taking place Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakeside Community Center, the event invites local seniors to trade traditional formal footwear for their favorite blinged-out sneakers while dressing to impress in glamorous gowns, tuxedos, and their best ball-ready looks.
The Sneaker Ball is more than a fun afternoon of fashion and dancing—it highlights the mission of The Seasoned Connection, the YWCA NWLA’s senior advocacy program dedicated to creating opportunities for older adults to remain connected, engaged, active, and empowered within the community.
“We wanted to create an experience that celebrates our seniors—not simply for their age, but for their stories, their energy, their style and the incredible contributions they continue to make in our community,” said Audrey May White of the YWCA of Northwest Louisiana. “The Sneaker Ball gives our seniors an opportunity to dress up, have fun, dance, connect with one another and simply enjoy life.”
Guests can expect an afternoon filled with music, dancing, fellowship, celebration, and plenty of sneaker-ball glamour. The event will also provide an opportunity to spotlight the importance of social connection and advocacy for older adults throughout Northwest Louisiana.
From sparkling sneakers paired with elegant ball gowns to sharp tuxedos and stylish kicks, the event promises plenty of memorable—and highly visual—moments.
